At Lonsdale Pet Hospital, we understand that orthopedic issues can significantly impact your pet’s quality of life. The Orthopedic Surgery service at our veterinary hospital is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for animals with musculoskeletal disorders.
Our experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff work together to ensure that each patient receives individualized attention and treatment plans tailored to their needs.
We provide expert orthopedic surgery to address a range of musculoskeletal conditions. Whether it’s a joint problem, ligament injury, or bone deformity, we have the expertise and technology to help your pet regain mobility and comfort.
Arthritis
Arthritis is a common ailment among pets, especially as they age. This degenerative joint disease causes pain, inflammation, and stiffness, making it difficult for your pet to move comfortably.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip dysplasia is a genetic condition where the hip joint doesn’t develop properly. This leads to joint instability, pain, and, eventually, arthritis. It’s particularly prevalent in certain breeds.
Cruciate Ligament Tears
Injuries to the cruciate ligaments in the knee joint are common, especially in active dogs. These tears can lead to lameness, pain, and instability, making walking or running challenging for your pet.
Fractures
Accidents, falls, or trauma can result in broken bones. Orthopedic surgery is often necessary to realign and stabilize the bone for proper healing.
Luxating Patella
A luxating patella occurs when the kneecap dislocates from its normal position. This can cause pain and difficulty walking, especially in smaller dog breeds.
Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD)
OCD is a joint disorder that primarily affects young, rapidly growing dogs. It involves abnormal cartilage development and can lead to pain and lameness.
