Professional Dental Cleaning

for Pets at Lonsdale Pet Hospital

At Lonsdale Pet Hospital, good oral health is crucial for your pet’s well-being. Our dedicated veterinarians and technicians are committed to providing expert dental cleaning services to keep your pet’s smile bright and their teeth healthy.

Our dental cleaning service begins with an initial examination by one of our veterinarians to assess any existing issues and develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to your pet’s needs. We then utilize advanced digital X-ray technology to get a clear view of the mouth and identify potential problems before they become serious health concerns.

Once this step is complete, we use specialized tools such as ultrasonic scalers and polishers, which help us remove plaque build-up while smoothing out rough surfaces on the teeth where bacteria may hide out undetected otherwise. This helps reduce tartar accumulation over time, which can lead to periodontal disease if left untreated long enough.

The Importance of Dental Health for Pets

Maintaining proper oral hygiene is essential for pets, just like humans. Poor dental health can lead to a range of issues, including:

Gum Disease: can cause pain, bad breath, and even tooth loss if left untreated.

Plaque and Tartar Build-Up: Accumulating plaque and tartar can lead to bacterial infections and other health problems.

Difficulty Eating: Painful teeth and gums can make it difficult for pets to chew their food correctly.

Systemic Health Issues: Dental problems can lead to more severe health issues if bacteria from the mouth enter the bloodstream.

Our Comprehensive Dental Cleaning Procedure

Pre-Anesthetic Examination: Before the procedure, our veterinarians thoroughly examine to ensure your pet is healthy and can safely undergo anesthesia.

Anesthesia: We use safe and modern anesthetic techniques to ensure your pet remains comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure.

Scaling and Polishing: Our technicians use specialized tools to remove plaque and tartar from your pet’s teeth. We then polish the teeth to create a smooth surface that is more plaque-resistant.

Dental X-Rays (if needed): In some cases, we may take X-rays to evaluate the health of the teeth and identify any hidden issues beneath the gumline.

Oral Examination: Our veterinarians thoroughly examine your pet’s mouth, checking for signs of dental disease or other oral health issues.

Post-Cleaning Care: We guide at-home dental care and may recommend specific dental products to help maintain your pet’s oral health.
