Dental Care Services
for Your Beloved Pet
At Lonsdale Pet Hospital, good oral health is crucial for your pet’s well-being. Our dedicated veterinarians and technicians are committed to providing expert dental care services to keep your pet’s smile bright and their teeth healthy.
The Importance of Dental Health for Pets
Maintaining proper oral hygiene is essential for pets, just like humans. Poor dental health can lead to a range of issues, including:
- Gum Disease can cause pain, bad breath, and even tooth loss if left untreated.
- Plaque and Tartar Build-Up: Accumulating plaque and tartar can lead to bacterial infections and other health problems.
- Difficulty Eating: Painful teeth and gums can make it difficult for pets to chew their food correctly.
- Systemic Health Issues: Dental problems can lead to more severe health issues if bacteria from the mouth enter the bloodstream.
Our Comprehensive Dental Care Services
Thorough Dental Examinations:
Our experienced veterinarians thoroughly examine your pet’s mouth, checking for any signs of dental disease or other oral health issues. This includes an assessment of the teeth, gums, tongue, and oral tissues.
Professional Dental Cleanings:
Using state-of-the-art equipment, our technicians perform thorough cleanings to remove plaque and tartar from your pet’s teeth, both above and below the gumline. This process helps prevent the development of dental issues and maintains oral health.
Dental X-Rays (if needed):
In some cases, we may take X-rays to evaluate the health of the teeth and identify any hidden issues beneath the gumline. This allows us to identify problems that may not be visible during a standard examination.
Oral Surgery and Extractions (if necessary):
Our skilled surgical team is equipped to perform dental extractions or oral surgery with precision and care. This may be required in cases of severe dental disease or other oral health issues.
Post-Cleaning Care:
We guide at-home dental care and may recommend specific dental products to help maintain your pet’s oral health. This includes toothbrushing techniques, dental chews, and specialized diets.
